The magic of horse training

It's not rocket science and it's not magic. A horse is just a force of nature and if you follow and lead it with the laws of nature you will become your horses' friend - pretty much simple as that. Everyone can have that special "magic" bond with a horse if you're willing to do the work. I would say a really good trained horse can have that bond with "anyone" and not just his owner. Every trick in the book can be taught, every dressage exercise accomplished. None of us is reinventing the wheel.

Horse training and riding horses has been around for thousands of years in different shapes styles and goals. The type of riding we have today is pretty new - the one only for recreational use. Horses has been used for pulling carts and wagons, messengers, soldiers, knights and kings. But it's rather new seen in a historical perspective that "peasants" and common people can own a horse only for "the fun of it".

There are many talented and inspirational people out there. Doing wonderful work and exercises with their horses. And many of them is doing "the same work". A bow and a Piaffe can look rather different depending on what methods you use and how you train your horses but none of it is magic. It's simply work with your horse and not against it and build up strength and balance in every exercise you ask of it and the horse will reward you by becoming better.

To state the obvious - No training should come from force but rather from suggestion and asking things of it, pointing the way towards a goal. It has been done by many before us and it will be done by many after us and I think that is important to know. If you want it - truly want it you can do it since we are not wizards with wands - we're only passionate people with an obsession.
